Waitrose Health & Safety Posters

Designed and Art Directed by The Scrutineer. Model used in the first poster 'Slips and Trips' is Scrutineer Junior Designer Sita Vickery.

A series of six posters for use off the shop floor. Waitrose Partners were to be encouraged to exercise some common sense whilst working in the store front, delivery bays and warehouse…

The point-of-view used in each photograph was that of the accident prone victim. The photoshoot took place at the Horley branch of Waitrose in West Sussex.

Client: Alice Meacham at Partners WM.

The story…

Scrutineer's is a den in Brighton, where the inhabitants muck about with art stuff. They produce proper grown-up paid-for work > websites, books, animations, printed matter etcetera, etcetera. They have their thumbs in many pies. Thankfully.

They also waste vast amounts of time doing equally proper stuff for no financial gain whatsoever.

The End.

Art/Design?

It's all Visual Communication. Graphic Design and Fine Art share many of the same elements, theories, principles, practices and languages.

In graphic design, "the essence is to give order to information, form to ideas, expression and feeling to artifacts that document human experience”.

Fine Art is "a visual art considered to have been created primarily for aesthetic purposes and judged for its beauty and meaningfulness..."
