David Watkin asked The Scrutineer to manage the orders and sales of the second volume during his final few months. Equally, he trusted that this arrangement would continue after his death.

Nicky Hand, who inherited David Watkin’s estate, was unhappy with this arrangement.

It came as a devastating shock to those involved in the production of the book, and those who’d supported David in his project, to learn that the remaining stock (nearly two tonnes of books), had been driven to East Brighton’s Municipal Tip, where they were pulped. No explanation has been forthcoming.
